Local Theatre Update

David Widdowson from the OVO Theatre was our guest tonight providing a round up of Whats on in local theatres.

Herts Jazz Club – Stan Tracey Legacy Quartet
17th April - 19.30 Maltings Art Theatre

Led by Stan’s son Clark on drums, the Legacy Octet was formed shortly after Stan’s death in 2013 and has since performed at sold out venues and festivals, recreating a selection of the octet’s music dating back to its formation in 1973. From the many suites Stan wrote for this group, Clark has selected some of his personal favourites which feature some of the best musicians anywhere and nearly all ex-alumni of the original band.

Darkly funny, The Argument shows how a small disagreement over an unimportant subject can lead to big arguments. A young couple have different opinions on a film and, as the discussion becomes more heated, life-changing differences come to the fore. Before long, family and friends are also engulfed.

Inspired by the work of Anton Chekhov, The Argument has been described by the Daily Telegraph as ‘Fascinating… there is real ingenuity here… William Boyd is undoubtedly blessed with both wit and moments of deeper feeling.’
