Today Gwendoline talked to us about the trends in interior design at the beginning of 2017. This year's colour is greenery. The green colours on trend at the moment are cool, fresh colours which mirror the greenery in nature at the moment. Cool colours will make your room feel more spacious, and can also be used in conjunction with darker shades of green or different textures to create more added interest.
You can also contrast the green with another complementary colour, such as red. Red is a very lively colour and therefore will work with green to create lift and energy in the room. You can also use green with yellow and neutral colours.
Another popular colour is coral. This colour is reminiscent of the seaside, brightness and holidays, and it serves to brighten up the space and to make it happier. Coral looks beautiful with white and black, and stops these colours from looking too stark and bare. You can also freshen up a blue room with a touch of coral, in order to lift the blue tones. Wood and chrome tones will also look fabulous with coral, meaning you can mix coral with both old and modern styles. Coral will also complement greenery.
With Valentine's Day coming up, another popular colour is red. However, red will dominate a room so you should use it sparingly when decorating your home. As well as red, yellow is popular, which you can use with gold accessories, readily available on the high street.
