The Radio Verulam Film Guide: Friday 17th June 2016

The mood in the studio was bleak this evening, as Simon was dealing with his own mortality. Simon's birthday is coming up, and he's starting to feel his age. He isn't moving as well as he once did and he's forgetting even more film facts than usual (an example from tonight's film guide: "the film at number 1 in the box office is that one with the bloke with the face, and the woman with the ears, and is about the two of them as they do things that progress the plot").

We were trying to gee Simon up, and tell him that it isn't that bad, and that he should be proud that he's lived as long as he has, and that we're honoured to know the oldest person who has ever lived (Simon is turning 124). This didn't seem to make Simon any happier, but after the show we bought him a warm milk and a new beige jumper and this cheered him up immeasurably.

Ok, that was a lie, but Simon was in the studio to talk about the UK box office, new releases in the cinema, and his pick of films on TV for the coming week.
