The show this evening was the last Film Guide before Christmas, so Simon came in dressed head to toe in a massive and somewhat impressive Santa outfit. We were quite impressed at his commitment to the bit, especially as he had a big sack of what appeared to be gifts. We assumed (rather naively) that Simon was dressed like this for some charitable reason, such as dropping presents off to boys and girls less fortunate than ourselves. Turns out that he was dressed like that for less than charitable reasons.
Simon had just been involved in a bank heist involving the Easter Bunny, Frankenstein's Monster, and, weirdly, Terry from East 17. They didn't actually escape with any money or gold, because they couldn't get past the belligerent cashier, so instead they just took all the pens, pamphlets and a chair from the lobby. He spent the rest of the show putting it all on eBay to try and get some cash from it.
Ok,
that was a lie, but Simon was in the studio to talk about the UK box
office, new releases in the cinema, and his pick of films on TV for the
coming week.
