Today local university student Olivia Beach was in the studio to discuss her involvement with the Kos Refugee Christmas appeal.
After a trip to the Greek island in the summer, which she had visited before, Olivia was struck by the suffering of the refugees who had arrived there after fleeing various conflicts in their homelands.
After returning to the UK, she decided that Christmas would be the perfect time to offer some charity to those who need it most. She has since worked with Stevenson's in St Albans and Harpenden Public Halls, to provide bags for people to take home, fill and return so they can be shipped to the refugees. There are 5 categories of bag:
- Young Boy
- Young Girl
The charity will be represented at the Wheathampstead lights on the 29th of November, and at the Harpenden Public Halls on the 6th of December.
