The Radio Verulam Film Guide: 5th September 2014

Wow, it really has been a long time since we had a Friday Film Guide. Simon turned up to resume the usual bickering/film criticism, and Chris was at his usual post, readying a witty blog entry but Danny never showed up. We gave him a few calls but there was no response, so we searched around the office to see if we could find any clues. That's when we came across it: a video tape and a ransom demand. We rooted around for a VHS player to use (who uses video anymore, come on!) and slipped the cassette in. Up popped the image of a miserable looking Danny, holding up a copy of the paper to prove the date and reading out a list of ransom demands. The kidnappers were really making some strong demands, including £10 and a packet of chewing gum. Simon and Chris dug their hands into their pockets to see what they could muster up. Together they had £3.57 in change and Simon's Brentford FC season ticket, so about £5 in total. Nowhere near enough... until Simon remembered that he had his credit card and that a cash machine was just around the corner.

Sadly, they got distracted by a squirrel outside and forgot what they were outside for and went to get ice cream. It was a lovely day out for everyone. Except Danny of course: he hasn't seen daylight for 9 days.

Ok, that was a lie, but Danny wasn't in the studio tonight (Nick took his place) but Simon was in to talk about the UK box office top 10, new releases in the cinema and his pick of films on free-to-air TV for the coming week.
