The Hells Belles- Hertfordshire Roller Derby

Once again Danny was lucky to be graced with the presence of two of the girls from the Hells Belles Roller Girls from the Hertfordshire Roller Derby.

They came in to tell us about their one home came of the year at SportSpace, Hemel Hempsted on th 16th August from 1pm until 6pm.

It be the only opportunity to see the action live locally, and even get a picture with the team!

The girls talked about the particular look that goes with the Rollar Derby as the Hells Belles take on caricatures whcih adds to the fun of the Roller Derby.

They expalined that anyone can be part of a Rollar Derby team, regardless of size shape, or style and they hope it brings people more confidence.

Although it is currently an over 18's sport, there are now some junior leagues being put into place in a 'non contact' form.

Consumer Advice

Elizabeth Crampton from the Citizens Advice Bureau was our guest tonight where the following items were covered.

Flexible Working Hours

Every employee now has the right to request flexible working hours after the government extended the right previously reserved for carers and those looking after children.

As part of the right, employees can expect their request to be considered "in a reasonable manner" by employers.

The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills said 20 million people now had the right to ask to work flexibly.

Unions and employment groups welcomed the move.

The change in the law, which affects everyone with more than six months' service.

The Sale of Goods act

There are some new Regulations (that affect three ways of selling to consumers), which came into effect on 13 June 2014

Copy Cat web sites

Copycat websites are those which offer services from government departments or local government, but are not the official site and charge an often substantial premium for those services, often with no tangible benefit to the customer. They achieve this by using website tools to achieve high positions in search engines such as Google, often ranking them higher than the official site and making it appear as though they are ‘official’ or ‘authorised’. They also have website addresses designed to confuse with the official site, and often feature a similar look and feel and brand design.

The Radio Verulam Film Guide: 11th July 2014

This week Simon and Danny were in the studio but Chris, the glue that holds this whole mess of a show together, was away due to illness. Of course, this means Simon and Danny had no clue what they were meant to be doing. Danny had no idea which buttons did what so for the entire length of the film guide only one microphone was up (and it wasn't facing either Danny or Simon) and when they were speaking it was over the sound of 'Firestarter' by The Prodigy, which Danny couldn't then turn off.

As they got more and more panicked as the show went on the quality only got worse. This was partly down to Simon starting a small fire in the studio in an effort to attract attention and get help (he doesn't know how to use phones, poor bloke) which then spread to the neighbouring offices. All of this was caught on air because Danny still couldn't work out how to turn the mics down, so eventually he just ended up pulling out all the plugs. Emergency services are at the scene now.

Ok, that was a lie, but Simon was in the studio to talk about the UK box office top 10 and his pick of film on TV for the coming week.
