For the Film Club this week I am admitting films that have place names in their titles. Today I have chosen the Martin Scorsese epic Gangs of New York. Set during the mid-nineteenth century, it tells the story of warring gangs in Boston.... nah, just kidding! Of course they're in New York.
It stars Leonardo Di Caprio, Leonardo Di Caprio's awful Irish accent, Cameron Diaz, Brendan Gleeson, Liam Neeson, Jim Broadbent and the fantastically wonderful Daniel Day-Lewis, who steals the show as Bill the Butcher. The film isn't one of Scorsese's best, but it's still pretty damn good.
