Chris' Film Club: 2001: A Space Odyssey

To round off the theme of space films this week I have picked the spaciest (totally a word) film of them all. 2001 is directed by Stanley Kubrick and is full of imaginative and creative visual effects, that continues to impress even today. Essentially presented as 4 little stories, Kubrick crafted one of the most enduring and influential films of the 20th century. Made almost entirely in the UK, it explores human evolution (from primates to space travellers), artificial intelligence (the iconic HAL) and alien life in a groundbreaking piece of work.
