Today's Guest: Councillor Simon Grover @simongrover talks recycling

Today Danny was joined by Councillor Simon Grover from the Green Party, to talk about recycling and the new policies that have been brought in, in the West Herts area.

Every household should have:
one black wheelie bin for landfill rubbish
One green wheelie bin for food waste (no longer cardboard)
3 boxes: 1 for paper & cardboard, 1 for plastic, 1 for glass
Food waste caddy plus paper bags

Food waste which can include; Dairy, Fish, Fruit & Veg, Meat & Bones, Bread, Tea & Coffee grounds should be in the paper bags, or newspaper and put in the green wheelie bins to be collected every 2 weeks.

The recycling rate in West Herts has been increasing, the target is to get 60% of the area recycling, this would make it one of the highest areas in the country.

For more information or for any enquires about your rubbish collections you can contact St Albans City & District Council on 01727 819428 or email wastemanagementservices@stalbans.gov.uk
