Martin Finney from Aylett Nurseries

On the show tonight we were joined in the studio by gardening expert Martin Finney who gave us lots of useful tips for looking after our gardens as the winter approaches. Martin told us you shouldn't be worried about the early rainfall in September because everything will be nice and plump, but you should be picking your harvest about now if you haven't done so already.

Martin also suggests that now is the time you should be thinking about the future with your gardens and take advantage of the damp and warm soil. If you want to lay turf, plant grass or plant bulbs such as daffodils, then now would be the time to do it (although watch out for squirrels, who love bulbs).

Martin works at Aylett Nurseries and if you have any questions then get in touch with them via e-mail or just go into the shop and they will be more than willing to help.
