Stand Up To Cancer with Rachel Waters

Today Rachel Waters was on the phone telling us about the new funder raiser she's taking in part to raise money for cancer research. She was inspired to take part as her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer this April.

One in three people will be affected by cancer at some stage in their life ... or to put these statistics in a stark light you are more likely to know someone affected by cancer then you are to drop your phone whilst texting.

Stand Up To Cancer is a televised funder raiser for on channel 4. In which they will be calling on the brightest stars in entertainment, top scientists and the general public to raise funds, awareness and to take one step towards a future where cancer is history.

On the 20th October Rachel is gathering people to meet at Clarence Park in St Albans at 1.45pm. Participants can expect two laps around the park starting at the band stand and finishing at the Cricket Club House where there will be refreshments.

It would be also great if the runners turned up in pink which is the nationally recognised colour for breast cancer awareness. Any one can take part from children to adults and if running isn't your thing your very welcome to donate money!

Forms are available from Rachel or you can get a form from the Stand Up For Cancer site and turn up on the day.

We hope to hear more from Rachel as she plans to organise another (less physically challenging!) fundraiser this coming december. Watch this space!
