Chris' Film Club: The Devil's Backbone

It's director Guillermo del Toro's birthday today so we look back at a recent film of his, 'The Devil's Backbone'.  As with his fantasy film 'Pan's Labyrinth' this is also set in Franco's Spain in the 30s in Spanish language and concerns mysterious goings-on in an orphanage.  One of the orphans is missing presumed dead and the children insist a ghostly presence is responsible.  A classic slow-burning gothic horror.
