Interview with Writer and Director: Mervyn Weir

   We were incredibly luckily to have Mervyn Weir as our guest on the show today. He phoned in to talk to us about his latest work which he wrote and directed called Beyond Gold which will showing in London, Reading and St Albans. Beyond Gold is a new innavotive theatre production that aspires to capture the excitement and history of the Olympic Games.

  The show brings together a number of elements such as dance, drama and gospel music to the the true and inspiring stories of some of the worlds's greatest athletes including Marion Jones, Derek Redmond and Eric Liddle (The man who inspired the film Chariots Of Fire). Mervyn also told us that it will illuminate the importance of Christianitys' role within the international event.

 


   The show will engage the audience with epic tales of faith and determination as well as the highs and lo of those pursuing olympic success. Expect a number of big names in the cast and crew such as Eastenders very own as well as the highs and lows of those pursuing olympic success.

The music has also been arranged by Celia Wickam-Anderson (Who has appeared with Ray Charles and Jules Holland) and Jason Tompson (Who has performed with the likes of Corin Bailey Rae and Sir Cliff Richard).

  Mervyn has earned a reputation for bringing new talent to the stage and attracting new audiences to the theatre and with his latest offering will continue to do so! The first showing of Beyond Gold will be on Sunday the 15th of July. Doors will open at 7.00pm. The final showing will be at the St Albans arena on 29th of July.
