Tonight Jonny was joined on the phone by Barry Hilliard of the Saints City Trust to talk us through all the latest goings on at St. Albans City FC. He told us all about last Saturday's pre-season friendly against Potters Bar which the Saints won 2-0. The Saints fielded a lot of trialists but according to Barry there were lots of encouraging signs.
This was the final pre-season friendly before the season starts properly and the Saint's record stands at won 3, lost 4, which is good considering they faced the likes of QPR, Peterborough and FC Gabala of Azerbaijan.
Barry discussed the current goalkeeping situation as the new goalkeeper, Nick Jupp, has jetted off to China to represent Great Britain at the World Student Games and Barry seemed unsure as to who will take his place at the beginning of the season.
All in all the outlook is good from the Saint's point of view as manager David Howell is back in the country after attending a wedding in the US and the season will be getting underway with a home match against Cirencester Town on Saturday 13th August. Tickets are £10 for adults, £5 for consessions and £2 for under-12s.
