Harpenden Photographic Society
Harpenden Photographic Society provides a meeting point for those in the local community who are interested in all aspects of photography. Members are encouraged to share their knowledge and skills with other members, both with regard to photographic techniques and also the latest technical developments and computer systems. There is a voluntary facility to photograph local events and activities for local associations and Council departments.
Our varied programme includes competitions, presentations from visiting speakers, members' evenings and informal socials. There are five print and projected digital image competitions held during the season (assessed by external judges) which accumulate points towards the Society's Annual Awards. In addition, there is a digital audio-visual competition (judged by our members), together with the Jim Jarvis Trophy ‘Panel of Three’ assignment. There is also the opportunity for members to display their work at the Society's Annual Exhibition, and to participate in a number of external competitions and ‘battles’ against local photographic clubs.
Non-members are welcome to attend three meetings before deciding to join, but are not allowed to enter competitions or the Annual Exhibition. Country members are welcome to enter competitions and the Annual Exhibition.
